CLIPPERS DISAVOW BILLBOARD ADVERTISING FLIGHTS FROM DALLAS TO CANCUN

The Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday addressed a billboard that seemed to target the Dallas Mavericks ahead of Game 5 of their Western Conference first-round series.

The billboard located outside Crypto.com Arena was an ad for Skyscanner, a website that allows users to compare airline ticket prices. The ad boasted of great flights from Dallas to Cancun, which did not seem to be a coincidence.

Some felt the ad was disrespectful and implied that the Clippers were overly confident of knocking the Mavericks out of the playoffs. ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk reported that the billboard is scheduled to be taken down prior to Game 5 and the organization quickly denied that it had anything to do with the ad.

“The billboard at L.A. Live is not owned or operated by the Clippers. We have the utmost respect for our opponents and in no way endorse this message,” the team said in a statement.

There has certainly been some trash talk and modest taunting during the series between the two teams, as things have turned physical at times. The Clippers are not going to want to be seen as endorsing such a bold statement, though, no matter how confident they may be.
