DOG BANS ON SOME GUERNSEY BEACHES COME INTO FORCE

Guernsey's dog owners have been reminded of restrictions for seven beaches.

The States of Guernsey said the restrictions would be in place between 1 May and 30 September.

The beaches where dogs are not allowed in these months are Fermain, Petit Bot, L'Erée, Vazon (northern end), Cobo, Port Soif, L'Ancresse and Pembroke.

The majority of Guernsey's beaches remain dog friendly during the summer months.

Owners of assistance dogs, including guide dogs, are exempt from the Control of Dogs Ordinance.

The States added owners are legally required to pick up faeces left by their dogs in public places.

"Dog owners should always prevent their dog from chasing or disturbing wildlife, especially birds," said the States.

"Birds are particularly vulnerable during the breeding season, February to July."
