To witness this flower at its best, Ashikaga Flower Park is the place to be, as it’s hosting its annual Great Wisteria Festival 2024.

Ashikaga Flower Park in Japan’s Tochigi prefecture is one of the best places to see purple wisteria alongside other vibrant flowers like tulips, Christmas roses and more. The park showcases eight floral seasons throughout the year, and the Great Wisteri estival is one of them.

Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Fuji no hana (Japanese for wisteria flower) at the Ashikaga Flower Park, where you will find this awe-inspiring flower in different colours like pink, white, yellow, and the most famous, purple. The Great Wisteria Festival 2024 showcases marvellous displays of 350 wisteria trees and 5,000 azaleas throughout the park.

The must-visit attractions of the festival at Ashikaga Flower Park include the 160-year-old tree that covers 1,000 square metres with wisteria and the 80-metre-long wisteria tunnel that goes over a bridge, creating a picturesque roof of wisteria flowers.

Great Wisteria Festival 2024 dates: The festival occurs annually around mid-April to mid-May, and this year, the festival dates are April 13 to May 15, 2024. The nighttime illuminations will be organised from April 18 to May 12, 2024, lighting up the wisteria at night and enhancing the beauty of the flower.

Great Wisteria Festival 2024 tickets: The price of the ticket for the festival starts from JPY 1,000-2,200 (RM 30 – 61) for adults and JPY 500-1,100 (RM 15-31) for children. The cost of admission to see the nighttime illuminations will be separate. The exact price for each day will be updated on the official website.

How to reach Ashikaga Flower Park: The park has its own train station along the JR Ryomo Line, called the Ashikaga Flower Park Station. The park is just a two-minute walk from the station.
